Wake up your brain:
an introduction to the creative thinking processes
A common (mis) perception is that creative thinking is reserved for the lucky few, for the truly creative. This introductory workshop entitled “Wake up your brain” proves that nothing could be farther from the truth: everyone is capable of creative thinking. This workshop will stimulate your ‘appetite’ and make you even ‘hungrier’ for more creative thinking!
Topics
The workshop starts with a confrontation with the patterned nature of thought processes. An amazing 80% of what we think and do occurs according to certain patterns. This is the reason why, too often, we get stuck ‘swimming’ in circles in our patterned thought ‘bathwater’. Following this interactive confrontation, you will learn to read the road signs which will lead you to applied creative thinking. You will discover that there are techniques which can enable you to develop creative ideas, here and now.
Time permitting, the following topics will be addressed during the workshop:
- What is applied creative thinking? How did it come about?
- What are the rules for a creative thinking session?
- How does our daily garden-variety creativity work?
- What is patterned thinking and how does it develop?
- What happens during our work-related brainstorming sessions?
- How can I use this during my daily work activities?
- How is the creative thought process structured?
- Several divergence and convergence processes
- Selecting, reinforcing and implementing the best ideas
Skills
During the workshop, the following skills will be called upon:
- Postponing passing judgment (or, how to learn to stop saying “Yes, but….”)
- Formulating and reformulating problems (What is the question behind the question? Do I understand what my customer means?)
- Association
- Imaginative thinking
- Diverging and converging
Duration of the workshop
“Wake up your brain” workshop: 1-1/2 to 4 hours
